The boy who loved Tom Gordon

I have always liked relief pitchers. I think the nature of their job, specifically the role of closer, has always appealed to my dramatic side.

Damn straight. At the game the other night (it was the same day he announced his retirement), they played a quick video between innings featuring Dan the Man. He got a standing O and the crowd kept cheering until Dan came out and tipped his hat. His sendoff will be very cool... and while our M's haven't figured out how to win, they do seem to know how to honor people (see last year's Ichiro record, and Edgar's tribute...)

You forgot the part about holding down his hat with his glove during the cup stretch. I think he also kicks his toes against the grass as he approaches the mound.

Al Hrabosky - the name reminds me of Charlie Brown's favorite player - Joe Shlabotnik. If you google him the first hit is the "Wiki Gonzalez" baseball wiki.

The Wiki wiki? cool...

Thanks for completing the description. Perhaps one of us can video it in a few weeks.

From his website: 'When he wasn't selected to the All-Star team in 1974, St. Louis fans rallied behind him, honoring him with a "We Hlove Hrabosky Hbanner Hday."'
