I'll mark this day in my calendar

Today, I declare myself officially a Sacramentan. This morning on my way to work, I stopped at Starbucks1 for an iced latte, and ran into someone I knew (the fine gent who does our photography at the theatre). I realized this is the first time I've randomly ran into someone I know in my new town.

Later in the day I got taken to lunch by a vendor/sponsor, and added a new great restaurant to my (short) list of Sacramento favorites (and beatnikside take note, they have a killer mac 'n cheese). I've finally found a decent pizza place. My aunt called me today for a restaurant recommendation in a particular neighborhood (my cousin's basketball team is coming up for a tournament in 2 weeks). So today was the day I really went, 'yeah, I live here.'

And, jameskpolk, if you're reading this, I'm sad about Kirby Puckett's untimely death. So sad. Baseball, which is bigger than North America now, mourns with you... the Twins loss is our loss. Touch 'em all, Kirby Puckett, touch 'em all...

1 OK, look, I have no particular affinity for Starbucks, and it does kinda suck that I'm not doing any help to the stereotype of Seattle-ites, but I haven't yet found a place for my drink yet. I did actually settle on my 'usual' over my time in seattle, it even had a ridiculously long ordering name (medium iced mocha, trio sauce, no whip). And yes, I did usually get to just say 'my usual.' But I don't like the chocolate syrup of any place in Sactown (even starbucks), so my Sacramento drink is 'iced grande latte, venti cup, extra ice' (so I can suck on it all day). For the record, I do patronize the fine independent Butch and Nellies, and Naked Lounge comes highly recommended so I'll check that out.
