When looking at my friends list yesterday, I noticed your name had a strikethrough over it, and I wondered if you had deleted your journal in protest of this business, or got caught up in it. Either seemed probable to me.
I don't know if I see the point in ceasing to use LiveJournal; you don't deprive them of much of anything by not using their service (unless you're a paid member, which I'm not), but you do deprive yourself of what it has to offer. It seems a little like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Only if this was a part of a mass exodus from LJ would it really be consequential, it seems to me.
My leaving, along with thousands of other people leaving, sends a message to Livejournal. The message is that we don't like their attitude and their prejudice.
Also, I've been considering a paid account, which I will now obviously not purchase.
The more people leave, the less reason people (including paid members) will have to use LJ. Their revenues will then decrease, both from less paid accounts and from less advertising hits on their website.
In any case, it's a matter of principle. And it's not like LJ is that stellar anyway. There are plenty of good alternatives.
livejournal IS liberal, which is why you got your journal back, hun. LJ acknowledged their mistake publicly and apologized. I can understand why you're angry about it though. please let me know where you move your journal to though, ok? i wont be moving mine because i like it here, so hopefully you'll at least keep your account so you can still read mine. :)
Liberal organizations don't censor people based on their thoughts. And their apology amounted to "we're sorry , but you should have known better". And they haven't restored all the journals, even some I *know* didn't contain any illegal material.
But I suppose it's harder to see when you're not affected directly.
I'll miss reading you if you go, but you're also one of the journals they restored after they realized their hasty mistake. I understand the feeling of violation or betrayal a move like that can cause, though. I can't see any content in your journal that really would arouse their attention for an actual violation of terms. Your open minded attitude towards sex and relationships is nothing to censor or be afraid of.

I'll make a post in my journal with my final decision, as well as any back and forth between LJ and I on this issue.
