The Joys of Pet Ownership

Poor Moggie's just gotten home from the vet. Our local vet is running free geriatric (animals over eight-years-old; Mog and Merlin turned nine two months ago) check-ups this month, so as Mog was due a check-up (Merlin's fine until next May), we took advantage of it

Sakura hates the carrier. She cries the whole time, and she sounds so pitiful I always feel like a monster. Funny though, she loves the vet, and she's always purring when she's there. It's the trip that's a nightmare. =_=

Mog was fine in it until we went outside. We often leave it out, especially if there is a vet trip coming up, to make sure they don't take an instant dislike to it. So I think until we left the flat she forgot that carrier=bad time :D

I'm not looking forward to having to put her in it next week. This time she didn't know what was going to happen, next time she will. And the time after that ... She'll have to spend most of the day at the vets, and she may be sore afterward (Merlin wasn't when she had to have her teeth cleaned/a few removed, but then she was on opiates due to being on steroids at the time, rather than being on normal painkillers as Mog will be) so she's not going to be happy about that.

Merlin is exactly the same as Sakura. Moans and looks up with sad wee eyes, and tries to pull at the door. And once she had a rough trip as she ate beforehand and ended up throwing up over the street >_At the start, Merlin was weary of vet, especially after the first time when she had a bad time of it (when she first started to have

The mental image of her staring at the clock is highly amusing. XDDD

Not as amusing as Toby's reaction to it when he was getting some shots back as a 4-month-old. He was watching it intently, all poised to pounce on it when the vet took advantage of his distraction and gave him an injection. He instantly lost interest in the clock, cowered down and walked back into the cat carrier :D Until that point he was all excited to be at the vets.

They do seem to love the clock, though. Merlin will start at it at times too.
