i prefer google dictionary's second definition to the first. i don't think this makes me persnickety.

I agree (but the word is pernickety)
My main objection to the first definition is the word "faddish". This is not a fleeting thing, the Cult of Phil RAR is a lifelong commitment.

same word, alternate spelling. i hope my americanisms don't taint the cult so much as demonstrate an international appeal.
