Turn up my collar, welcome the unknown, remember that you said "One day you'll walk alone"

Yesterday night I went to see MEGADETH and I met DAVE MUSTAINE.

I met up with Eric in line and went to pick up my tickets and backstage pass. I hid a disposable camera down my pants so it wouldn't be confiscated...mission accomplished! When we got inside the venue (Grove of Anaheim, same place I saw Alice Cooper on Thursday) we began to worm our way to the front. Exodus was the opening band, they were pretty awesome and I got smushed and I got sweaty. I was wearing a self-tailored Pantera tank-top and the sleeves kept falling down, some dude in back of me was watching out for me to make sure my shirt did not come completely off, and that I didn't get trampled. It was a fairly intense concert, the kids were fucking STUFFED in the pit. During "Die Dead Enough," I got kicked in the head by a crowd-surfer, and shortly after I fainted from heat, lack of food, and being crushed on all sides. I held on for several more songs but eventually I had to get out of the pit...I almost NEVER leave the pit during a concert so that's saying something about the energy in the crowd that night. It was amazing. They played "Skin O' My Teeth," "In My Darkest Hour," "A Tout Le Monde," "Sweating Bullets," "Kick the Chair," and a lot of others...those were my favorites out of the set. I met the guitar-player for Exodus as he wandered the hallways and he was really nice.

After the show I located Eric and we both met up with Esteban! I spent a little bit of time assuring everyone that "THIS WAS A SHIRT AT SOME POINT." Then we got on line to go backstage. By this point I realized that my backstage pass, which had been stuck onto my jeans, was gone. I started freaking out and explained the situation to the people in charge who were trying to kick me out of the venue and lock me out. They let me get in the line, and the kid who was next to me was talking on his phone saying "Yeah, I found this VIP pass in the pit!" I told him it was probably mine but I felt bad taking it from him. Luckily enough, some dude behind us had an extra pass. All was well. We went in and Esteban, Eric and me got our picture taken with Dave. I got my ticket signed and chatted briefly with Dave. I also hung around for a while and had a longer conversation with him later. He is a really sweet, cordial, nice guy and considerate of his fans. I didn't experience any of the "asshole"-ness that people sometimes accuse him of. This is a good lesson not to judge someone till you meet them...Dave is badass. I got a hug from him too.

Quote of the evening--
Sarah in the pit: "I think I'm dying. This is good, this is good. It's ROCK 'N' ROLL!"
