One hundred and eighteen lever presses today [that's right I wrote it all out 'cause it deserves that much credit]! Up from 27 the last time he was in the operant chamber [which was pretty impressive all by itself]. All the while the two groups next to us were giving us dirty looks and muttering obscenities under their breath at their own rats.

118?!?! Wow! Thats impressive! I'm taking that class and I was so impressed that my rat pressed it 32 times (and that was only with shaping). You have a very intelligent rat.

Hi! I love how you can do this with Livejournal where you just post things randomly the journals of people you don't know and it's completely fine [not creepy or weird in the slightest].

Yeah we got really lucky with Justin [that's his name ^^]. During the first few sessions where we were giving him pellets every couple minutes he pressed the lever maybe once the entire duration of the sessions. Then when we did operant testing without food deprivationand he was pressing it maybe 13 times a session [as it turns out he's not stupid just incredibly lazy ^^;]. Then the 118 happened with that first food deprivation session [turns out he's a glutton too!].

Your rat sounds pretty intelligent too if he picked up shaping that quickly [it hasn't even been a full week after all].
