I've noticed that a lot of the dim sum restaurants I've been to/frequent are on the second floor. I wonder why this is. 88 Seafood, Ocean Palace, a couple of places in Chicago that I forget the name of, Kiran Court in Dallas, two places including a 24hour dim sum place in Taiwan, and a couple of other places such as Kim Son dim sum ( Read more... )

You know, it's an interesting observation, and my only guess is that rent is cheaper (for 88 Seafood). Ocean Palace on the other hand is using the first floor for something else entirely, banquet hall related I think. the 24 hour place in Taipei was also second floor, and that might also have been a rent thing.
