People in academia like to speculate about thing they have no clue about. Yeah, all of them like to talk about career in industry, although a few of them ever worked outside academia (some had internships). I always tell them - no, in industry the communication protocol between people is much-much-much healthier, you are not expected to work 50+ hours a week, there is no casts (phd students, post-docs, professors). There are some extreme cases but I'm talking about average. It is easier to think that there is no heaven because if there is a heaven somewhere, you must change your life to get there. But according to the minimum energy principle, it is easier to change the state of the mind about that - believe that the hell is everywhere.
