I sent two emails to feeback@avos.com today:

WHY WHY WHY???

You guys seriously made me cry this morning. I've had this account for 4 years, I have 4000+ bookmarks. WHERE ARE MY TAGS? I had them all organized into bundles, and now I can only see about 50 of them, out of hundreds. Are they gone? I can appreciate that you guys wanted to do this "stacks" thing, but couldn't you have converted existing tag bundles into stacks, or had them both?

Why don't tags with a slash in them work anymore? You've pretty much destroyed an entire online community's way of saving and sharing bookmarks with the lack of that one little line.

I use this site constantly, every day. I was excited when you guys bought the site, and now there are tears. Bad Avos, no biscuit :(

So disappointed,

A couple more questions and thoughts since my original email (now that I'm slightly less emotional).

I know the tech blogs all seem really positive about this, but their writers don't seem to be current users, whereas the comments to the blogs (from current users) are almost all negative. I understand the need to update things and that you would want to make the site "cool", but if you lose the functionality (which you have), what's the point? The idea of "stacks" I guess has potential, but again, if you lose the functionality to actually FIND anything, what's the point? I might as well be using StumbleUpon.

Some specifics:
I have some tags that have dozens or even hundreds of links associated with them. Now when I click on them, only ten bookmarks appear, and there is no "next page". Am I just never going to be able to access my older bookmarks? I wish there was still the option to view 25, 50 or 100 bookmarks per page.

It seems like most of the changes are only going to serve very casual users, and I don't think people who have more than a couple of hundred links saved will be able to manage their collections without options like tag bundling. Is there any reason why you can't have both tag bundling and stacks? Although they look similar, they don't really do the same thing. Tag bundling really belongs within "my links", while "my stacks" is its own thing.

I also think you really need to look at the lack ability to browse your own tags. If I want to look at a link I've saved, at this point I would need to remember exactly how I've worded the tag and type it in correctly, I can't just a) type couple of letters and have a drop down or b) browse through my bundles and find it.

Despite your automated reply, I don't know if anyone will actually read or reply to this. I do hope that you are keeping an eye on the comments on various blogs and Twitter from your userbase and understand that people are passionate about this site, and we do want you to succeed. We just don't want to lose our ability to access the links we've been saving for years and spent hours upon hours organizing.

Thank you,
Melanie (cunningplan)

I guess now I'll have to use the 100 or so tabs I have open in FF for reading material for the next while, instead of constantly searching for new fic in delicious. I hope they actually listen to people and fix some of this stuff. I'm thinking about migrating to pinboard, although I'm very bummed that no sites seem to support tag bundles.

How about you guys? Are you moving, and if so, where?
