I'm kinda bored.

Miyoko is fast asleep in the teachers lounge, head down, eyes black. He never eats at lunch any more, never talks more than a rushed I'm busy, don't you have someone else to annoy?, he just marks the homework, and sometimes, rarely, he'll collapse over it until the bell rings and he becomes awake and angry and busy all over again. Even Mibu-san is making the 'Tch' noise this week, the one that means I don't care, but I'm worried.

Miyoko is so young, like this, when he makes a whimpering sound that could be nothing, or could be 'imouto'.

Kiyoshi dreamily plucks a sheet of half-done work from under his arm.

Miyoko wakes up to the bell, too loud, sees the work tucked under his arm and starts to curse in frustration-- Why did he sleep, he didn't need it, he didn't have time tonight for this-- Only to see it's been done.

Yuki is going home. It's hard, to go near the river of Inaba, but the flood plains are the shortest cut and there's nothing to do but say "I'm okay." But it's late, and rare, to see others there.

Shino is leaning over something, a plastic bag caught under her shoe, and he fights down the panic of the water, approaches. There's a pile of kittens, carefully laid out, unmoving.

She turns at the foosteps, and it's in a rush of movement-- She stands, grabs him by the collar of his shirt, the back of his neck, drags him close and down to the floor, wraps her arms around him in a desperate, tight hug while he apologises.

It's only when he feels the water dripping down his neck that Yuki realises she's crying. He wonders what she sees.

The 99 times Saburo and Yuu failed team exercises (Condensed to one short speech.)

"Wow, punching a little girl. Well done, Yuu."

"It wasn't my fault, they made me--"

"So, think your mother is proud of you? What with you been a murderer?"

"--Like you're any better."

"Then again, a criminal son for a criminal mother. A whore really can't produce anything of worth; I almost feel sorry for her, failing to fall down a staircase before you came."

"Shut the fuck up!"

"Why do you keep putting them together-- Not the equipment, do not slam him into the equipment--"

"Not so smug now, are you?"

"..."

"What was that?"

"I said, first you get beat up by a little girl, and then you hit one? I bet your daddy's proud of you."

"Someone find the tranquilizers. Again."

Saburo is shivering compulsively, fingertips curled. It's difficult to even try and move, with the nails through his palms, through the joints in his fingers, so he doesn't. Everything hurts, a dull ache right down his spine, sharp flashes of white in his vision when she nudges a broken bone so gently, feels the grind of spring of life under her palm trying to heal, trying to set when she won't let it.

He mouths something through bloody lips, but there's nothing to say, nothing he can say. Michi had said isn't your boyfriend nice, with jealously curdling in her stomach and bitter red eyes, a smile with sharp teeth screaming you don't deserve him, and Saburo had matched her smile.

He screams, just once, when she claws his eyes out for Akimoto-san.
