Are you shi'a?

I think Mutas are an interesting concept. In essence, contracted temporary marriages. Hmmmmm. I think it's a good idea for Ramadan if you have a significant other that is not your "wife." Good luck with that, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Yeah... Jen isn't having sex this month...not that should would anyway. So far she has only been tempted by food and drink.

yes, many (non shias) have a problem with the Muta. Even some shias. I did consult with a Minister first (my neighbor is one). all i can say is halleleulah for once something is to my advantage and I'm going to utilize it. I must admit that the Muta is probably abused a lot, like the one-day muta's. But even with a one day, there is a 45 day period to make sure she's not pregnant, otherwise the man is responsible as a father. Ours is 30 days. btw as far as women go, the Muta can only be done by divorcees, widows, and non-virgins.

It's good to hear that you are still sticking with your fast. Do you know anyone else (personally) that is also fasting? That makes it easier to cope...

Yeah, I thought muta was considered void by the sunnis and the 'idda is to make sure of lineage and all. I, however, did not know that only widows, divorcees, and non-virgins could do a muta.

In Iran, isn't the government pushing muta, specifically for younger adults? I thought the cost of living was so high there, and the age of marriage now raised with most people attending college, that it was a way to keep people from going crazy with sexual frusturation. Granted, muta isn't something to brag about, but isn't it in the end to keep virgins from becoming non-virgins out of wedlock? Those crazy persians (that's why I like 'em) rawr ;-)

Maybe I'm completely wrong on that, but it was the impression I received from my professor.

yes, everything you mentioned seems to be the case, from my observation. Most shias usually follow iranian practices, and the past few years Muta has become more common.

Hell I know Muta sounds all weird, but really is it any more
weird than screwing whomever you want whenever you want, as in
mainstream American society? To me Muta is like having a girlfriend/boyfriend. Again, for divorcees, widows, etc. And remember that some women were not Muslim, and dated regularly, then converted to Islam... therefore they have an excuse for not being a virgin :)

Anyway I'm pretty progressive about womens rights, Virginity is
not a prerequisite for me to marry someone :) I'm very laid back about such things, I'm as guilty as anyone. *sigh*

You like them Persians *LOL* i noticed that you look Mediterranean (you are very unique looking, in a good way, black hair, you are attractive in my opinion) are your roots from that region? I already know that you aren't Muslim though... you might pass as Arab, Turkish, or Persian...
