In the offices of H. C. Word, too many people were claiming for “abduction by aliens”.
“Look, you never saw any aliens, did you?”
“But they made me go. It must have been aliens, there was an eerie blue light.”
“And this was Christmas Say, yes? How much had you drunk?”
“Nothing. It was before the Queen’s Speech. I missed the Queen’s speech!”
“I’m sure you did. Do you have any evidence of this?”
“No, no. I didn’t get much choice to.”
“Well, as I said before, we can’t pay without evidence.”
He put the phone down. They’d been told - their consultant had said - it was blood control. Blood control! If that got out, everyone would want paying.
