So, recently I've been re-reading my Draco/Hermione fanfic, Water.

The aim is to tidy it up, send it off to jenl3227 and dianoram (who, unrelated to being my betas, are two fantastic people that I'm very pleased to have met), and then post the revamped versions online.

ANYWAY, I have a question:

Has anyone else got a story or a piece of art that they've ( Read more... )

I think it's just an ability to put yourself in that situation well, which is amazing. Even if you've never gone through epic angst, you can still get into the head of a character with that past within those situations. I think it's just part of being a writer...? Understanding the human condition.

The plot is the main thing for me with which character it's harder to write for/from. I mean, POV can change the whole tone of a story. So it really depends on what I'm trying to do. I wrote a ton for my DBB from Hr's POV, hit a hard block, and had to scrap it all to write the story from Draco's. But I might just be weird like that.

AWWWHHH, THANKS! It's been a journey, but most the ship seems to be liking it, and hopefully we can keep making it better and better. We definitely started it as aware of not replacing CG as we could be. It started with that poll, and only one person voted to wait for CG to come back. There was demand for it, and so there it is. I guess some could argue that the existence of H&V in itself is trying to replace ( ... )

See, I've cheated with Water. I switch POV between Draco and Hermione throughout the story. There is also stuff with Harry, Pansy and Ron (but not as much). So I get to explore the story from different tones. I think with longer stories you can do that more easily. With things such as one-shots it perhaps makes it too disjointed.

But I know what you mean. I've sometimes written a scene from, for example, Hermione's POV, and hated it. So I'll go back and write it as Draco and it just seems to work so much better in developing the story.

As for H&V:

There was a hole in there, and it was important for us to all get back together as a community

Absolutely. I think we were missing that one definitve place (that wasn't something on LJ). And what you guys have done has been more than I (and I'm sure others) ever expected. It's without a doubt my favourite archive!

You know the funny thing here is eventhough is very angsty is still so beautifull and well writen. I am not a fan of angsty fiction (what can I say I'm a happy every after kind of girl) but when I read Water I just could not put it down is so perfect, and I cannot wait to read more of it.

I am very happy that you liked Water enough to keep reading through all the angst! =D You are another friend who has stuck with the story for a long time. I can't believe the next chapter is the last one! =S

I haven't heard of Margaret Gibson, no. I will definitely pick up one of her books and have a look though. Thank you. =)

Also the true feelings of lonely young people, without fake romance and fake purity. And it should be wounds and a lot of true dirty. It's the only way to the truth and wisdom of not missed but accomplish life. It's great and deep novel. Thank you so much. Peolpe all over the world translated it and were looking for original text.
