Drowning in the Net

Waking up, I can't feel anything
Cold sheets are beneath me

Cold blankets are above
And that thing we call love
Is swinging like a pendulum
Drowning like a dolphin
Trapped in a net meant for tuna
Or... drowning in my heart
A heart meant for that "just friends" love
That warm, syrupy, false kind of love
I try to keep a lid on this sense of romance
That seems to be dribbling over
The side of the kettle
Whenever you look at me,
It's impossible to deny
But it's more impossible to love you
And have things end up well
I'm not a cynic, I'm not a realist
But in the pit of my crazy
Silly and optimistic heart
I can sense it's wrong
Despite all this, your hand falls into mine
And suddenly it's not so impossible anymore

So tell me, which characters is this poem about? 8D
I want to hear your thoughts.
