The only thing I know about heels is to put your weight on the balls of your feet/your toes. Specifically walk on the front of your feet, instead of your heels.
...And stand up straight. Used to be when I wore heels I would always end up bending forward at the waist.
The thing about walking in high heels that was hardest for me to learn was taking short steps. I'm naturally a strider, and of course if you're used to going around in sneakers or even comfy flats, you can do that. High heels shorten your stride, and the higher or narrower the heel, the shorter your step has to be; you have to put your foot down flat, and not roll through heel-to-toe in the same way. (Some wedges let you roll a little more, but not all, and they still shorten your stride with the way they put your weight forward on your toes.) It all worked much better once I accepted that in these shoes, this was the pace I was walking at, and pushing that with longer strides (rather than quicker short strides, which one can learn to do) would actually only slow me down and make me wobble and feel ridiculous.
