Heeeey. I was wondering, do you still have any ideas that involve little chainsy bits of beady stuff? That "wandering steampunk chemist" thing?

Ooooh. Mnenomic devices! Specially with a 'lower-class, wondering tinker/peddler' idea, where literacy can be an iffy thing. Even with being a chemist! Certain beads can stand for certain ingredients, even processes. String a few certain ones together, and you have a recipe! A little stand of beads hanging around the narrow neck of a jar could be a list of ingredients for whatever is in the jar. While a string of beads could be a longer recipe- either with special 'spacer' beads to break up phrases/steps, or each set of beads could be on... vocab fails me. Small piece of stiff wire, with a loop on one end, then string your beads/charms, and cut and bend the other end into another loop, so you can connect the sections?

This would be fun to use all sorts of different beads- types, sizes, shapes, etc. A 'poor' chemist's 'cookbook' would be common, cheap beads, while if you got fancy, upperclass one, that could be made of semi- and precious stones.

o.o'''

That's a very cool idea, you should keep it for worldbuilding.

I meant the steampunk chemist/potions-person costume that you were talking about, a long time ago? I have these little bits of beady bits that are either strung or wired together and for some reason I think I was going to send them to you once upon a time.

Star: reading comprehension fail! *sheepish*

Well now! I guess I will use my idea. *L* I have a bunch of misc. beads as well, so putting together a recipe necklace or two should be easy enough to do!
