Oscars!

So I just saw The Reader which means, for the first time, I've seen all five best picture nominees! I'm most pleased with this accomplishment, however, after seeing The Reader, can anyone explain to me why it is that this film is not getting more buzz??? It was amazingly complex and really explored issues that a lot of other films would dare not ( Read more... )

You made more of a rant than me this year, sweetie! Although I do have some rants bottled up inside right now. Like, why the hell is it so trendy to hate on Ben Button? I truly enjoyed that one and it sucks that people are being such babies about it's length. For once in my life, I actually disagree with Jon Stewart on something(GASP! DOUBLE GASP!) who has made a few jokes about it being boring. But I will make up with him before this issue festers and ruins our relationship. It's not worth fighting over. *sigh* Oh Jon, you know I could never be upset with you for more than 15 seconds, baby.

You just answered your own question right there ;) *hugs* I'm rooting for Kate too!

*Sigh* I just expect more from the Oscars. Like why was Frost/Nixon even nominated? It's so not in the same league as the other four films. I would have much rather seen the Dark Knight nominated (or had the Academy to pull their heads out of the sand and realize that animated films CAN be best pictures and nominated Wall-E).

To be fair about Ben Button, I get why people think it's great, but I thought it was like the mutant baby of Forrest Gump and Big Fish. So for me, it wasn't really about the length (although that whole part when he was like in Russia or whatever, yeah...couldn't we've have cut that a little? You so could had the same emotional impact when she crosses the English Channel without wasting 45 minutes of life).

I guess there were a few more rants bottled up in my too ;)

I'll admit: I have a personal sentimental love for Button because it was filmed in NOLA. I friggen love NOLA, and I was way too happy to see how beautiful they filmed it and captured the rich history of the place in its own little way. It's just great that Brad and company pumped some money into the town. But I still really love the movie *blushes*
