Was talking to some co-workers last week at the Day Job and they both looked me like I was the biggest idiot in the world - well, more so than usual - when I said that I never planned my years out with goals. i never plan any yearly goals either. not yearly at least, since i try not to put attention to what's not more than a meaningless number... i try to see things more as short ot long-term planning.

I think the idea is to think of it as micro-managing. Breaking really large goals down another peg and giving yourself a deadline. Yeah, it's similiar to simply setting short or long term pursuits, but I think I'm going to give this "By the year" thing a shot.
