Isn't that cute? She was the sweetest thing until the camera came out and she'd clam up. When I took out the apples she forgot about the camera and I was able to get a couple of cute shots :)

Those are some cute kids:)

We had a friend, who's doing similar things to what you are, take pics in June. You can check out her website--I like it because you can see her work, it allows her to blog and she can password protect her clients stuff. www.kellychau.com You can view her website, then clients, then family sessions and choose holtmans. The password is Walnut Creek with the space and the caps. I found it a pretty useable website. I bet you she'd tell you how she did it if you wanted me to introduce you. She's really nice.

Those photos are beautiful! Lily looks so much like you when she laughs.

Her website is lovely, and exactly the sort of thing I'm looking to do. Can you find out what she used to put it together? I think my website will be my winter project this year.

She (or her designer) used Flash to construct the site. Please consider going that route very carefully, as while Flash looks pretty, it limits the number of people who can access and use your site.

If you're just getting started, a Wordpress site will do just fine.

For something more sophisticated, there are several open source photo-management platforms, too.

Depends on what you want it for...

A friend of a friend has a website and I want to do something similar:

www.jessicasmithphoto.com

I don't know her well enough to ask what she's using, but the site is pretty and functions in the same way I'd want mine to.

Her site is a combo of HTML, asp, Flash, and Wordpress. You could buy a template and fill that in, but really once you get the template in place, filling in the content is the easy part.

And you'd recommend Wordpress for something similar? I learn quickly but I'd be starting with not much experience - I used to build some low-level HTML websites back in the day but it's been years since I played with the code.
