Deja vu all over again...only I'm in someone else's spot.

So, 11 months ago, I underwent surgery to deal with an abscess in my intestinal tract, which had been causing me pain for MONTHS. They had to do a resection (for those not in the know, that's when they remove part of the intestine, and reattach the two parts again). Took me months to recover, mostly because the opening decided to be a bitch and not ( Read more... )

Boy, she sounds like she's had a lot going on in there. Poor lady. I'm sending good healing thoughts.

I actually just spoke to her, and it turned out she had a fistula leaking as well, which probably explains alot. She's assuming she'll be in the hospital around ten days like her last surgery, but I'm not so sure (they're doing packing on 4 separate openings, so...)

Naturally, the family Easter dinner we usually host is cancelled; though we're still having my grandmother over to see me (she goes near that kitchen, I'm strapping her to the couch)

Much thanks for the healing thoughts, she's going to need them. <3

I'm sorry she's having such a bad time of it! My only suggestion about the pain is that she ask if she can also have paracetomol, though they might be doing that for her already. I mention it because I've had morphine a few times for major surgery and (apart from the fact that it exacerbates my naturally fast heart rate and there's always a flap over that) last time I found that it didn't do much. Yet when they also put up a paracetomol drip I was a lot more comfortable, and they told me it's quite common for paracetomol to be effective in such cases. Sounds bonkers, since it's such an everyday painkiller, but it might work for her - either way, I hope her recovery is straightforward and that you get to have the longer Easter break to spend time with her and set your mind at rest.
