I've been found out! Facebook officially knows about the pregnancy now. Well, that's what happens when you talk about it freely on LiveJournal but don't say anything about it on a social networking site. I managed to go 34 weeks or thereabouts without saying anything, though. I was just going to post some pictures when the event happened. I ( Read more... )

Hon, do not worry about the weight. Do. not. diet. while you're pregnant. A good chunk of that will come off almost immediately upon having the baby, and most of the rest will slide off within a year. If you want to snack, IT IS OKAY. Take it from someone who has had two kids and has been /obese/ for both of them. Even /I/ was told that snacking is okay. Just don't go overboard (Like, eat three boxes of cereal in one sitting, or something). Yes, it might be the culprit, it /also might not/. Every mother's different.

PS: Need email addy again, pls. And you're due in October, right?

I'm not dieting. When I say diet I just mean the things I eat from day to day. I try to keep my diet good, I've just been backsliding with the cake and the ice cream. I at least let myself have ice cream for the occasional heartburn I get.

I'm used to eating a fairly clean diet but that's gone out the window since I got pregnant. Couldn't even stand eggs for about four months, I'm glad I can eat them again. My breakfasts have been consisting of cereal and yogurt but I need to get back to my egg whites and oatmeal. Cereal is the devil! There is a reason why it's banned from the house, same with cookies, crackers, candy, soda, and juice. I have backslid on the juice, though. I am drinking a bit too much lemonade...and sweet tea.

I'm due in September. I really appreciate the offer but apparently when I am asked to make a registry and I put no clothimng requests on it, that is a sign for my guests to ignore the registry (I fucking hate making them) and buy my kid tons of clothes instead. So we're pretty set on clothes for the

I suggest Pearson's Mint Patties as a low content tasty candy to snack on.

I agree with Nightambre. Don't worry about the weight. I also gained a lot while pregnant. I think i weighed myself the last time in week 38 and then I had gained around 20-22 kilos. After that I stopped looking. I was also huge, now I'm pretty much back to normal, without a lot of trouble. I lost 10 kilos directly after the dilevery. Don't worry about it too much. *hugs*

But I so understand the feeling, felt the same!

Also, check with Schneeb's family if you can about the sizes babies tend to run in that line. He's thin, but he's tall -- it makes a difference. WO was 9lbs, 1/2 oz, but 24 inches tall. And as my momma said, "That's only because they don't make the paper measuring tapes any longer." He was bigger than I was, and bigger than his daddy was, and the only reason LW was a petite 8lbs 10oz and 21 inches was because they picked him before he was ripe.

Every inch in height means a certain amount more of fluid, etc.

I can also tell you that WoW is breast-feeding and the pounds are melting away. (They didn't for me, but I had an undetected thyroid problem.)

*fixes you a non-fat Greek yoghurt and honey parfait with fresh blueberries*

Schnee is actually not that tall, but he is thin. He didn't break 8 pounds at birth, and at two weeks late I was 6 lbs, 8 oz. Now, granted, I think part of that was because my mom wasn't exactly the best at the whole prenatal health thing. She had no vitamins, no doctor visits, was probably not eating the best diet. I asked her if she thought part of her osteoporosis was caused by being pregnant and not taking in anywhere near enough calcium, and she thought yeah, it might be. I might have actually broken 7 pounds. My father's side is heftier than my mom's side, and they're the ones with diabetes and heart disease and I know I take more after them. We'll see.

That yogurt sounds good... sadly, I am even more lactose intolerant now than before. I'm going to be experimenting with different types of yogurt to see what I can tolerate (like sheep's milk, goat's milk).

WOW is having luck with goat's milk products (yogurt, cheese) which in addition to being more digestible are making LO's outputs less acidic. Diaper rash, begone!

If you find that such helps, try out one of these. I like the results of strained yogurt more than cream cheese.

Well, if you were normal/low weight before, it's fairly common to gain more than the average apparently. I've stormed up almost 12 kg and am still in week 28. I'll be right there with you on 18kg and counting. :)

What kama said seems to work for loads of parents. Sleep deprivation combined with high work loads (work and taking care of baby, plus visitors and house work) all add up to make you shed those pounds.

I've started telling people "Yep, I am huge and extremely pregnant, now help me get some extra pie/fetch me that item/help me get up out of this chair". So far nobody has been rude enough to deny the "poor pregnant" woman some help. I abuse it for all its worth. :D

I think the average you gain is something like 13 kg, but I asked my midwife and she said the "normal" range is very large, depending on your starting weight, starting diet, genetic factors etc. I'm sure as active and diciplined as you are, you'll have no problems getting back to normal weight afterwards.

I still enjoy getting up to do my own things unless it's painful to do so. I actually like climbing stairs. I live on the ground floor so any excuse I have to climb a few flights of stairs, I'll take it. Feels good. As for the visitors, I don't know how many I'll be getting. My mom will be here for a week, and Brian's parents will stop by for at least a day. His sister will probably drop by as well. Other than that, I don't think we'll be getting all that much help. The neighbors that I liked that would have helped have either moved or passed away, sadly.

I think that sleep deprivation, work, and school are definitely going to drive me up the wall this semester. We'll see how long it takes before I crack, if I crack. Let's hope I don't crack!
