Finally, a name!

Oct 28, 2009 14:17

My mother has finally, after thinking about it for the majority of the year, come up with a Chinese name for Rowan. Here it is:

李 文軒
Hooray! Now I have to get used to calling him by his Chinese name.

So, what kind of nickname? I think Xuan-xuan sounds weird, but that may be the only thing...

That's a very 秀氣 name. I like it.

I think xuan-xuan is pretty standard. Another common one is to go by the zodiac, so 小牛 perhaps (though, you'd have to suffer the implication of being a cow... :p )?

Also, is Schneeble's last name Lee? Or is that your Chinese last name?

Let's see...My Chinese name is 沛中 and my parents always referred to me as 小沛 (the naming convention my parents had was that all three of us had names ending in 中 to reflect our Chinese heritage). Maybe 小文/小軒 would work? Assuming future children, are you planning on giving them a specific...uh, thematic naming?

Mom's all up on the thematic thing. She has names for both brothers AND sisters.

My name is Li. I kept it when I married him. Too lazy to change my signature.

:) What does it sound like in English? My Chinese is near nothing, well I think it is nothing. Only know a few Japanese words from jiu-jiutsu and that doesn't help when it is Chinese...

I'd start out calling him "Rowan". If you want him to have a Chinese "home" name, then Li-Wen is closest to Rowan in terms of sound.
