After mentioning that Rowan's name bears striking similarity to my biological father's name (Li Wen-Qing, and my mom hates him) she changed his name. That's fine, I was kind of uncomfortable with it anyway. Wish she had realized this earlier before I announced it. Anyway, Rowan's ACTUAL name is...

A fine gentlemanly name (to my completely foreign ears). The other one kind of pressured him to go into the literary arts.

Don't regret announcing it too much: when he gets older, it'll be a funny story to tell.

"My mom announced my Chinese name on LiveJournal, and a whole lot of people commented, but then she had to quickly post again when it changed..."

I wonder how the internet will have changed when he's old enough to really laugh at that story. Maybe he'll run into this post and this comment? And maybe, under whatever form this information is in, he'll leave his own words.

That'd be super meta, wouldn't it? But I imagine that the issue will have been broached long before he's of an age to go searching for my blog; he will likely wonder why his grandmother is kooky, and I'll have to explain, and this will come up as a result.
