I remember reading this and being so very frustrated by the last sentence because it is clearly not as it should be. I mean, it is as far as the legend goes and how Arthur and Guinevere end up being married and everything, but clearly Arthur and Merlin belong together and that's what should happen, and this is executed so well because you never for a moment think that Merlin and Arthur shouldn't be there together like they are, and then suddenly they're not anymore. And the idea of the two of them living this whole life together, growing old together, only to go back and do it all again a different way - it's just phenomenal and heartbreaking and lovely. <3

I think that Merlin can be a bit of an idiot sometimes. He obviously should have chosen the first universe and his happily-ever-after with Arthur. *g*

Oh, lovely! Such a beautiful sense of sadness... I love the way that you create a clear feeling of the world looking right but Merlin knowing that something wrong is just under the surface... beautifully done!

When I read a story that is both sad and right, there is a particular feeling of pleasure. This story does that.
