[A/N: A short drabble brought about by a suggestion from my rp partner Tee (tees2mai). The prompt was 'cuddles after a day of hard work' and it was supposed to be fluff... right... >>]

He was tired from a hard day at work. All day it had been deadlines, deadlines, deadlines, office politics, deadlines and more deadlines. So much so, that by the time it was all over, he was almost at the end of his own line, only the eagerness to get out of the stuffy atmosphere giving him that last stretch of energy to drag himself onto the subway and back home.

But at least, he would have someone to greet him there.

Someone to welcome him home.

The key slid easily into the door - the lock well oiled and used often. “Minhyuk, I’m home!” He called out, stepping into the front room and taking off his shoes.

There’s no sound of a returned greeting, no call of “Welcome back!” or “Oh, you’re back!” or even “Oh, hey, Jungshin.”. But, he knew that Minhyuk was there, waiting for him, all ready to comfort him after a hard day of work.

Moving into the living room, Jungshin smiled as he spotted the love of his life sitting quietly down on the couch. The room was dim and a little cold, but Jungshin allowed it since he knew Minhyuk liked it this way - he would allow such things for the person he loved after all.

“Hello there, have you been bored at home?” Jungshin asked as he sat down beside Minhyuk, wrapping warm arms around his love’s waist. Kissing the soft cheek that was turned to him, Jungshin nuzzled his nose against that slender neck. “Mmm… you smell a little bad... Didn’t take a bath all the while I was gone?”

There was silence for a little while, except for the soft buzzing of a fly somewhere, of which Jungshin ignored. Instead, he blabbered on about his day. About how crappy work was, about how horrible his co-workers were, about how the food in the cafeteria was tasteless, about how picky his boss was…

…about how mundane life was.

And throughout, Minhyuk kept silent, his lips shut tight, his ear wide open, listening to Jungshin rant.

The silence brought Jungshin comfort, as if that meant Minhyuk was listening. And his smile was soft as he reached up, caressing that firm jaw with thankful hands. “I love you, Minhyuk… thank you for being here for me…”

…SMACK.

“Ah! Sorry, dear…” Jungshin apologized, lifting his hand away and dusting off a black speck which once had been a living thing. “There was a fly on your eye… Hmm… now it’s a bit dirty… gah… stupid fly…”

The brown eye which was dull and lifeless did not blink as Jungshin lovingly wiped off the remains of the dead fly off its dry surface. “There… all better… but we better get more formaldehyde in you. Don’t want your pretty body to get all smelly~”

Pausing, Jungshin surveyed his beautiful ‘Minhyuk’, his beautiful lover that he would tell all his troubles, and the beautiful cold touch that would soothe away all the worries in the world.

The beautiful corpse that gave him comfort.

Pushing away the memories of fighting, tears and abandonment that licked at the edge of his mind, Jungshin grinned blankly at Minhyuk, gently gathering his lover into his arms, singing a sweet lullaby to him.

“You’re never leaving me, right, Minhyuk?” He purred to his lover who slept eternally in his arms. “You’ll always be here to give me comfort.”

“Always.”
