[A/N: For the adorable tees2mai  whom this fic is written for and is also inspired by. She was writing a fic for me, and all the way, she kept nearly blurting out the storyline. XD Love ya, baby <3]

It was on Tuesday that Hyukjae realized that Donghae was behaving weirdly.

Behaving weirdly was, of course, a major understatement.

Their exchange for that day went something like this:

“Hey, Ha-”

“KYAH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!”

Cue clouds of dust formed by epic running speeds.

“…”

Hyukjae didn’t see Donghae for the rest of the day.

~*~

The next day, Hyukjae went head hunting for Donghae, who seemed to have mysteriously disappeared.

He checked everywhere - his room, the training room, the other dorm (he was never going in there again, seriously, Heechul could do things anywhere… with anyone…), the nearby park, the entire SM building, all of Donghae’s favourite food stalls, all of his favourite food stalls. He even called Donghae’s home to check if he was there (no, but Donghae’s mum promised to make cookies the next time he came around). He was about to call missing persons when Leeteuk finally took pity on him and told him that Donghae was in every location that Hyukjae checked… only he left about a minute before Hyukjae came.

Leeteuk would know - he was with Donghae the whole day.

Hyukjae spent the rest of the night staring blankly at the wall.

He was beginning to think that Donghae was purposely trying to avoid him.

~*~

Okay… this seriously sucked…

Hyukjae had tried doing everything in his power to pin Donghae down, but nothing seemed to be working.

Calling him was out since Donghae’s phone was off (it turned off after the fiftieth call).

Texting him was thus also out (didn’t stop him from leaving a million and one messages).

The e-mails that Hyukjae wrote to him were beginning to bounce back…

And short of sending smoke signals, Hyukjae couldn’t think of any other way to contact him…

Donghae remained stubbornly out of contact.

Hyukjae was beginning to think that he’d done something wrong…

He stayed up the whole night trying to figure out what.

~*~

He must have fallen asleep from exhaustion… because the next thing he knew, he was being shook awake by Donghae.

Wait… Donghae?

Snapping wide awake, Hyukjae shot right up and accidentally slammed his forehead into the unassuming Donghae.

That took up about five minutes of writhing in pain.

Once Hyukjae had recovered enough to actually speak, he immediately rushed over to Donghae’s side and began to shake him, all the questions that had piled up over the last three days pouring out like a torrent.

“Where were you? I was so worried about you, I tried searching for you everywhere and I just couldn’t find you. You were avoiding me weren’t you? Why were you avoiding me? Did I do something wrong? Then I tried calling/texting/e-mailing but you didn’t answer. Was I being too pushy? I was wasn’t I? Oh God, I was… Crap, you probably don’t even want to speak to me now right? I don’t even know what I did wrong. Tell me what I did wrong! I’ll make up for it right now! I CAN CHANGE I TELL YOU! TELL ME WHAT’S WRONG AND I WILL CHANGE I SWEAR IT!”

“H-h-hyu-uk-k-k-j-ja-ae… s-s-s-sto-op-p sh-h-ha-a-k-ing-g-g m-m-me-e-e…”

And obedient to Donghae’s words, Hyukjae did, although it didn’t stop him from continuing to rant.

Staring at Hyukjae in disbelief, Donghae shook his head, leaned forward, and shut Hyukjae up with a kiss.

Five minutes later, there was an uncomfortable cough of consensus at the door.

Ten minutes later, Leeteuk went into the room to break up what was becoming one of the longest (and most heated) kisses they had ever seen. Heechul was contemplating calling the Guinness World of Records to see if he could get this entered in.

Needless to say, Hyukjae stared in confusion as the whole of Super Junior began to flood into the room. “Eh… Guys?”

The lights flickered off, but darkness didn’t reign in the room. Instead, brighter than the electric lights were the twenty four bright candles on the cake which Ryeowook happily carried in.

“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Hyukjae~ Happy birthday to you!”

Hyukjae stared, stunned, amidst the cheers, his brain unable to connect with the reality of the situation. It took him a while, and a tug on his sleep, to realize that Donghae was explaining the whole fiasco to him.

“Well, everyone was preparing for your surprise birthday party, and most of the things were finalized, except that every time I saw you, I had this undeniable urge to spill everything out to you. I don’t know how you didn’t notice everyone chipping in to shut me up… and luckily you didn’t seem to notice… not even when Heechul-hyung threw me into the pond…”

Donghae mussed his hair, looking sheepish. “Then, for the last four days, everyone decided that they would try to keep you away from me so that I definitely wouldn’t tell you and spoil the surprise. But man… you made it so hard… so much so that our preparations were pushed back. We wanted to wake you up at midnight, but we ended up having to wake you at dawn instead, so- mmmph…”

Hyukjae grinned as he pulled a startled looking Donghae into his lap. “It’s okay, as long as you weren’t mad at me… I thought I’d done something wrong…”

“Technically, you did…”

“Eh?”

Donghae’s smile in response warmed the cockles of Hyukjae’s heart, all the way down to his toes. “You made yourself so irresistible that when I look into your eyes, I can’t help but want to tell you everything.”

And on that note, Hyukjae was entirely satisfied.

“You know, that sounded a bit like Kangin-hyung’s bad habit of telling everyone secre-”

“Just shut up and kiss me, Hyukkie.”

“Okay.”
