I was on my way to work today, when I noticed a truck speeding in the carpool lane. Why are trucks even allowed in the car pool lane? I probably would have ignored it, but we've recently had a couple of trucks kill people on our highways...because they were speeding. I'm on the road a lot between Astoria, Or and down the valley to Eugene and I'm amazed at how fast those truckers move. It scares the shit out of me sometimes. It's like they have no notion of physics. I drive two vehicles. The one we use for long distance can get up to nearly 90 but it's real squirrelly and kind of narrow so I don't trust it at high speeds. The other is an Isuzu snubnose 15' truck and can get up to 75mph if you're going downhill. We use it mostly for in-city work so it doesn't have to be fast but it's still a drag when those 18 wheelers go by.

Oh yes, physics...how often we forget how that controls things, lol.

Besides that, here in Phoenix we have a very small task force of police who inspect trucks. of the trucks they inspect, an amazing amount are pulled off the road because they fail the inspection...for things like brakes.
