So here are a few quick thoughts about Watchmen for purlypuss, even though I haven't seen the movie yet

I may have been completely overwhelmed by the violence - for me, an implied ax-to-the-head off camera makes me nauseous and this one had four whacks to the head on screen one after the other, full frontal, for example - but all the irony and critique you're talking about did not come through for me at all. I don't know if this sort of film can handle that kind of subtlety and meta-commentary. For that you need to use comedy, complex jump cuts and a more straightforward parody form, I think
