W-well, maybe it's just the Cheshire cat, gone to sleep? Perhaps he got tired of grinning, though he always grinned quite a bit. I'd imagine his cheeks would be very sore.

Really? Because I was looking at them and all of the sudden they just blinked out (or perhaps they were winking?)! Disappeared, almost.

That's...strange. Stars do die out eventually, but not all at once. It could be the mansion's doing...
