Hoping that I might be lucky and have a car insurance expert on my friends list, I have this to ask: Is there a way to get one's insurance company to pay for damages that occur in a parking lot hit-and-run? I once had a wreck in a parking lot and it was my fault. My insurance company paid for repairing both.

I'm no expert but you either have the wrong coverage or the wrong insurance company.

This probably doesn't help much, but when I hit a deer, my insurance didn't cover shit. When I noticed that someone banged up my car's wheel well in the parking lot at work, they said my comprehensive would cover it. Now, I'm looking at State Farm's webpage and it says that comprehensive includes impact with an animal. Which leads me to believe that... insurance is fucking confusing.

I hope your brother gets it all sorted out though. If he still has the paperwork associated with his insurance, just sift through all the fine print. It's gotta be in there somewhere...

if he didn't call the police and he doesn't have comprehensive coverage, you might not be able to get them to do anything, honestly. read the fuck out of the policy so you can call them up and sound like you know what you're talking about.
