The Jurby Mice are on an all-island tour.... Not a rock group, but an enormous collection of hand-made mouse figures all made by some people in Jurby, in the north of the island, celebrating island life. I think there must be a couple of hundred of them, some knitted and some sewn.
I know they are on tour because D-d and her friend followed their walk on Sunday with coffee and cake in the café at the Salmon Centre in Laxey - and found it full of mice!
I went up yesterday and had coffee and took some pictures, then put my donation in the bucket for the Coronary Care Unit at our general hospital - which is the whole reason the mice are on tour.
There are tableaux showing different events throughout the year - I only took pictures of well under half. But here are the ones I did take. For example this one is October, harvest;
And here we have some maypole dancing mice -
If you want to see them there are some
Mice taking part in the Parish Walk - getting refreshments outside someone's house - which happens all along the route -
Christmas Eve -
First day back at school in September -
Mouse miners -
Bonfire making in October -
A mouse bride -
And some older mice celebrating a wedding anniversary -
You've heard of a boy band? Well this is a mouse band -
And to end the exhibition we have mice at 'Jacob's junction'...
From whence they will take the pathway either up the ladder to Mouse Heaven - where they will meet St Peter Mouse in front of his pearly gates -
Or taking the route in the opposite direction....
