Scotland is very beautiful. There is a lot of ancient stone there for building.

We saw a proper castle the next day :)

The large gentleman laughed himself - we got to know him and his wife quite well :)

I might write up the next bit tonight, but if too tired I will do it tomorrow - promise!

I’ve been on that Inverness to Kyle train several times and just sitting back and enjoying the view is the best thing to do. I have some very similar photos of Eilean Donan :) It is such a glorious setting. Hope the rest of the holiday goes well.

It is a beautiful run across from Inverness to Kyle.

And we are back in York now - and there was a tiny hitch that, through the holiday manager and the coach driver, was smoothed out beautifully.

Oh, your photo of the castle was EVER so much better than the photo they had on their own website! It is a lovely castle, but you'd never really know it by looking at the web.

Scotland is a lovely place, and so rugged. Part of the charm, I suspect.

Thank you!

And yes - the North of Scotland is not a gentle, soft, country but beautifully rugged.

Now, there's a view to wake up to. Glorious. A Victorian rebuild would not particularly interest me, either, and coming down steep, narrow staircases is definitely not my thing.

It was a rather wonderful view :)

And yes - we were very happy to walk around outside and then sit quietly and have coffee and cake, for me, and coffee and a cheese toasty for S2C, watching the world go by.
