Thing one is a challenge I saw on FB to alter the name of a music act to come up with something edible. The original suggestion was Fleetwood Mac'n'Cheese. This was quickly followed by The Rolling Scones, and a suggestion from someone else that in concert they should be supported by The Jam, and Cream

I love the idea of woodlice being fairy pigs! The Welsh woodlice are simply "mochyn coed" or "wood pigs", much more mundane.

Re jellyfish, I have seen "pysgod wibli wobli" (wibbly wobbly fish) mentioned as the Welsh name, but that's just a descriptive nickname. It's correct name is "slefren fôr" which means something like "sea slippery".

However, jellyfish are also known as "cont y môr" which is a "sea [very rude word]". I suspect that's the name people who are stung by one use for the creature. :-)

Thank you! Yes it seemed to me that "pysgod wibli wobli" was more a childish name. "Cont y môr" was the one used to show that, in this instance, Welsh was coming at this from a different angle to the Irish and Manx.

I rather like the idea of the fairy pig, too :)

I'm terrible at coming up with anything for those 'change the name of' challenges, but these having given me a good chuckle. So clever, all of them!
