So much these days I feel the weight of being grown; all we do is so far from simple and every choice only brings more questions.

I'm beginning to love what I do (tutor writing online).  Mainly because I tend to be introverted and have my "no people" days.  But also because I feel very much like Penelope- I rip apart a tapestry of writing only to ( Read more... )

It fixes so many problems: comma splices, run-ons, and those really choppy sentences.

If I don't know what else to comment on I always just say something like, "You could benefit from using more semi-colons...." Lol.

Funny-- I'm usually doing the opposite: "Only use when joining two complete sentences" (there are other uses but they are so rare...) or "This should be a colon not a semicolon because it is introducing a list" etc.

Yeah, I always seem to be stressing that as well. So many students seem to think that one can use a semi-colon to introduce a list or can use it interchangeably with commas.
