Well, I sincerely hope that I don't suffer from any of the extreme circumstances I can imagine that might keep me away. Most of them involve some sort of dismemberment.

I'm really glad you didn't get blown up. I think the thing about skiing is that it's very much more a danger thing - the most dangerous thing about scuba is getting eaten by a shark, which is fairly unlikely. I was a little disappointed by the Barrier Reef, although part of that was probably not being allowed to dive properly...
