The Future Is Now, Nearly Now, Well I Can See It From My House...

Recently I got a notification informing me that I was "now following the Dalai Lama on Twitter!" Soon after, even more weirdly, was "The Dalai Lama is now following you on Twitter!" And so, like someone repeatedly prodding you on the arm when you're stoned and trying to make a cup of tea, it finally hit me. We totally live in the future.

When I was last in London, a woman was sat next to me on the tube reading a kindle. People are actually reading kindles. Soon they won't be even be called kindles and that we ever did will seem delightfully archaic.

It was like this, except the kindle was red, much smaller, neater and I was drunk.

Putting to one side how gross this brain array is, it's worth sitting down to consider it's logical continuation. So far, people can control a mouse cursor with one of these by focusing their attention carefully. While the applications for people with disabilities are joy-inducing in themselves, this could realistically be the beginning of interacting with the modern environment by just thinking about it. Kinda pisses on the slidey doors in Star Trek, huh?

And then to top it all off, we have Natal. Check out the site as it's unbelievable, but if you're too lazy and also like women, then why not just watch Felicia Day having a go?

Imagine fighty games! Imagine the MMORPGs! Imagine how scary Duke Nukem would have been!

By the time I'm old, the world is going to be incredible.

natal, brain array, i'm totally going to be an astronaut, kindle
