The sad/funny thing is, I know all the lyrics to that song... the version I have has the lyrics as such "But people have always eaten people... what else is there to eat? If the juju had meant us not to eat people, he wouldn't have made us of meat!"

My mother used to have a few Flanders & Swann albums, and I have since purchased The Complete Flanders & Swann CD box set. I also grew up with Gilbert & Sullivan. Oddly enough, the British musical humorist I didn't hear growing up was George Formby, who I only discovered quite recently.

Are you familiar with Doctor Evadne Hinge and Doctor Hilda Brackett? ...anyone who loves Flanders and Swann would love those two ,,,er ,,,ladies. known as Hinge and Brackett.

I admit to fudging the lyric.

"When I'm Cleaning Windows" ... I can't think of a time when it wasn't there ... way before I could understand the risque element.

Haven't seen Hinge and Brackett before over here, but I will have to check out what I can on the web.

Dame Edna Everage just completed a couple weeks over here. Quite popular in San Francisco, as you might expect.

Humphries is a sour, ex-alcoholic right-wing shit, but Edna is undoubtedly a brilliant creation, though his other character, the now neglected Sandy Stone said much more about Australian suburbia ... Sandy managed to survive his own death for several years, but the showier Edna has seen him fade into obscurity. his monologue, "Dear Beryl" is a masterpiece of poignant, quiet desperation ( ... )
