Loooong (this took me a few days)
Lots of stuff has happened since my last entry, and i realized this is going to be a long update since my weekend was rather long, so I've decided now to LJcut it.
Anyway, my last day at borders has come and gone and now I'm officially a babysitter. It's still coming as a shock to me not having a real job but not paying taxes and everything coming to me in cash will be pretty cool once i start making money. I'm babysitting now, but she was out all night according to her and has passed out on the couch. Her dad should have been home at 6, but he's still not here so I'll continue waiting, I'm in no rush to go home and the longer he takes, the more money I make. I've been here since noon and I'm exhausted from doing nothing, plus i'm still pretty nauseous. Anyway, since my last day at work (the 31st) I went away to Montauk for Labor Day weekend and that was pretty fun, but I'll get into that in a bit.
School started on Wed and I realized that packing all of my classes into one day really was a smart idea. Gives me time to work, relax, do school work and I'm not rushing to go anywhere on school days now. I can walk to Penn without worrying if I'll be late and I can take my time leaving classes. Plus 3/4 classes are really enjoyable, I'm looking forward to this year picking up...the only class i'm not enjoying is my math class, but its one of two books I'll be purchasing, because I need a 3.5 gpa this semester and I'll be doing work. Other than that I'm going to get my philosophy book, but after i photocopy the articles out of it, I'm going to return it on Monday, get whatever they want to give me for it back, I think they're not giving back full price for the books after the 9th, but I'll have the receipt, so we'll see what happens. I'm not sure if I really need my psych book, but I may just pick it up as a reference anyway and for now there is no Ethnic Studies book and he told us not to buy anything until he said otherwise. But it's fun so far, again, minus math. We're learning slope and i learned that already in 10th, 11th, 12th grade AND my freshman year at john jay...whoopee, but it's not as bad as Lauren, the math major, taking precalc haha.
Thursday was my last day and it was fun. I slacked without slacking...if that makes any sense at all. I did stuff, and i wasn't holding anything back when it came to customers. I told stacey that and she said she'd choke me if i pissed off any customers. (two of which i pissed off, but that was their own faults, not mine). One customers wanted to use like a million of the same coupon on 3 different book (or 3 coupones, but you get the idea) and I told him he could only use one and he flipped shit and told me they always used to do it for him and i told him that corporate changed the policy and we could only let customers use one and he was arguing for a while until i read him the coupon and on the bottom is said "one per customer per valid dates of coupon" which means he could only use one between 8/31 and 9/4. After much more arguing he finally got fed up, bought one book and told me he was going to put them away, but i highly doubt he did that. and then he set the alarms off and i told him to come back and he got pissed off more but i didn't really care (at this point it was just kinda funny...F kinda, it was really funny...) He got all flustered and as i was scanning his book to deactivate it he said to me "what'd you do now, all i want to do is get out of here" and i tossed the bag back at him and said "so then...leave faster" and walked away. ha, I'm priceless. The next lady apparently gave everyone trouble, but i went to the bathroom and there was a book on the counter in the potty so i took it out and put it on the resort cart and waited for the woman (who was on the phone while onthe toilet) to come out. When she did she just started yelling about where her book was and i just said "ma'am, unpaid merchandise isn't allowed into the bathrooms" and she started yelling more about where her book was and i said it again and when i gave her the book back, she tore it out of my hand and huffed away. It was a fun last day. I wanted to have a going away party, but as i got to the bar i realized that becky and andrew were mistaken and sarah wasn't working that night, but it was ok because nobody showed up to my going away party anyway, as i figured was going to happen. But Dwayne drove out and we hung out with Lauren and watched House until Dwayne fell asleep and idrove him to his car and then i went home because i was leaving for Montauk the next day.
Friday my mom and I left for Montauk at around 830am and the drive was nice. Normally I sleep on them, but i couldn't put the seat back to get comfortable, so i just stayed up and talked with my mom. it was nice. We got out to Montauk and went to the hotel to see if we could check in early, but the man in the office said our room wouldn't be ready until 130, so we went for a drive. Drove out to the point and my mom wanted to pick up rocks, so we did, walked around the point and it was nice. took a couple of pictures of the water and went to the harbor to talk to the people who own the LazyBones cause my mom is friends with them and wanted to say hello. she also wanted to make a reservation to go fishing on sunday. We went to Gosmans after that and i had mozarella sticks and a beer and then we went back to the hotel to unpack and hang out for a little bit. we made ramen and played texas hold em with goldfish and cards and after dinner we took a walk into town to play some mini golf at the puff n putt. it was fun. I was pretty exhausted from the day so I pretty much fell after we got back from all that.
Saturday my mom woke me up early so we could get things done, but since it was all drizzly and stormy we didnt do much. Ate breakfast at one of the local pancake houses. It was like seeing a Denny's across the street from another Denny's...Anthony's Pancake House across the street from the other "Insert name here" Pancake House. We ate at Anthonys and i had eggs and homefries and for once I hate all my toast. After I dont really remember what we did, maybe went back to the room to nap or something, but at that point the wind was really picking up and we were pretty sure Hurricane Ernesto was coming in. So we decided to fly kites at the beach. Well, my mom flew a kite, i thought it'd be funny to fly a plastic garbage bag. In the storm, my bag faired better than my mom's kite and we have some funny pictures of the bag flying and me being unable to run into the wind. We went back to the room, where the blackout came and we played a million games of scrabble by lantern, and then we got hungry, and since there was no electricity, we couldn't cook because the hotels stove was electric, so we went into town to see if any resteraunts were open so we could take out and the only place that was open was the chinese resteraunt "Wok N Roll" like i figured because most chinese places use gas grills. We got some chinese and my mom bought candles and we had a nice dinner and more scrabble by candle light. After more games of Texas Hold em and Rummy, the lights came back on for a lil bit and flickered back off for a while. Then they finally came back on and i watched Law & Order SVU til i fell sleep.
Sunday my mom woke me up a lil early and it was a beautiful day outside. She went to the beach to check out the water, it was a little rough, so she wasn't sure if she was going to go fishing, like she had planned, so we went down the docks to see if the boats were running. Lazybones was and she decided she was going to go. At 12 i dropped her off and went back to the room to hang out. I took a walk along the beach, rolled up my pants and took a walk along the water. I got hit by a big wave and my pants go soaked, so after that i figured it was pointless to avoid the water, so i walked in it. It was nice, still really windy, but it was sunny out and there were a bunch of families on the beach hanging out. I went back to the room after that and watched more Law & Order...it must have been a weekend marathon or something, I was going to read before I took my nap, but i played tetris instead, like i did most of the weekend. During my nap, I had the craziest dream and i forced myself to wake up because I didn't want to see it anymore. I fell asleep on the couch and in the dream i was sleeping on the same couch, but it was in front of a kitchenette type of thing and i woke up in the dream and saw someone enter the kitchen so I sat up to see who it was, and then a huge woman in a wedding dress and a midget in a tuxedo left the kitchen holding a wedding cake and asked me if i wanted to have some. I freaked out and kept yelling "JEN OPEN YOUR EYES" and then i finally did, but it was still freaky. At 5 i got my mom from the boat, and it turned out she got really sick on the boat so she wasnt up for much later. She relaxed and I went to the office to find out about late checkouts and met this kid Chris who worked there. He was cool, until we hung out later and he became a total dick. My mom and I went out for dinner at Luigi's, this awesome italian resteraunt in town and then I hung out with Chris. I'm not gonna say what happened exactly, but he had an agenda and he was a dick. Glad i'm not seeing him again.
Monday we woke up early because it was an awesome day again and we had some bagels and then went to the beach for a little bit. I needed to shower before 1 so we could leave on time, so I left the beach at 1130, about an hour before my mom did to shower and eat. We left at 1 and we went back into town so my mom could buy souveniers for her bowling team or something and then left for home. We stopped to shop at the Bellport outlets, but half of the stores are closed, so it was uneventful. Bought a new backpack for school since I need one and some cute shoes at some shoe store...then a lot of goldfish at the Pepperidge Farm Store. Got home around 5 and hung out with Andrew. We went to Aces Liquor store and bought a bottle of Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka to mix with some cokes when we got back to his house and we also bought some chinese food to eat with the drinks. We watched Hercules (the Disney movie) and drank our drinks. At 11ish Becky called and we had to go pick her up from work and drop her off at home since she was a bum and didn't want to hang out. We went back to Andrews and drank some more and hung out with Joe while Andrew tried to print out his paper for school. After that, we decided that we were gonna do shots to Nightmare Before Christmas...everytime a song is sung, do a shot. We got bored of waiting after the first half hour of the movie or so and skipped chapters and did a shot that way. It was like 2am by this time so we decided to go for a walk...Andrew walked me halfway to my house and i thought it'd be a bright idea to walk home barefoot cause my sandals were killing me, but by the time i got home, my feet were torn apart from the concrete, owww.
Tuesday I babysat all day and got home around 6 and stayed in after that, fell asleep around 11 and taped Nip/Tuck for another day. Had trouble waking up for school on
Wednesday but made it anyway. It was a long day, boring, but on the train ride home I ran into Shannon from Borders and we talked and sat together, until we realized we didn't have much to talk about, so I read and she played her Gameboy.
Today (Thursday I woke up at 1130 cause i was getting a haircut/color at noon and it's so short and awesome, I love it. And it's black again weeeee. Babysitting til 10ish and then Kenny's bday bash at Cheesecake factory...looking forward to it
