Name: Fay D Flourite (real name Yuui)
Series: Tsubasa RC
Canon: OU (Right after chapter 135)
Age: No one is certain, least of all Fay. Pretty old. Looks to be in his mid to late twenties.
History: The one who would grow up to be called Fay D Flourite was born ‘Yuui’. His birth was greatly anticipated in Valeria Country, offspring to the younger prince brother of the Emperor. But then he had the misfortune to be born a twin, Yuui and Fay. Twins were considered to be a horrible omen, a curse. Soon after their birth the Prince died, and a series of other calamities befell the country. In addition, the twins powers combined were already great, when grown they would surely rival the Emperor himself, and this could not be allowed. Their mother killed herself not long after for guilt of having birthed this curse.
The Emperor determined that the twins must be gotten rid of, but to kill them might bring even greater misfortune upon them all. And so the young boys were given a choice- one could kill the other, or they would be thrown into the tower in the valley. Neither would kill the other, the Emperor deemed that so long as they were unhappy the rest of the world would be spared from their curse.
The tower in the valley was a place where magic did not work, and time didn’t flow. The bodies of sinners were dropped there, to lay forever, no peace in death. Fay was placed in the top of the tower, and Yuui in the bottom.
Their life was a miserable one. Time didn’t flow properly here, and the boys did not age. Yuui sat atop the bodies of the sinners thrown into the tower, dragging them into a pile to try and use them to help him climb the tower wall and get to his brother. He would climb and claw at the wall until his fingers were bloody but he never made it.
He contemplated why he had been placed in here, what he would do when they escaped. They would run away, to another country, to another world. Maybe different worlds, if they were together they would only bring more misery.
More bodies began to fell, bodies that couldn’t all belong to sinners. Elders, children, Yuui couldn’t understand why they were being thrown down here, and why so many? One of the men bore a letter claiming the Emperor had gone mad, and was killing everyone. That the curse of the twins had not been broken. Then the last of the bodies came, the Emperor. He’d flung himself down, and with his last breath told Yuui that he and Fay were the only ones left. He told him that it was their sins which had caused this, and they would have to live with it until the end of time. He then beheaded himself in front of the boy.
Yuui had a breakdown, the words of the Emperor, and his witnessing his sucide taking their toll. He didn’t understand how they had sinned. How their birth alone had been enough to subject them and their world to this horror.
Their hair grew to reach to the floor, faces becoming gaunt and tortured being trapped in the timeless hell. Then he came to them, Fei Wong Reed. He told each boy that he could save them, but only one, and then asked them to choose. Yuui said to save Fay, and when Reed came to Fay he said the same for Yuui, saying he didn’t care if he died. Reed accepted, and Fay was thrown to the bottom of the tower.
Reed then told Yuui that he would be taken from this place in short time. He manipulated his memory to make him believe that he had chosen himself over his brother, and this was reason Fay had been killed. He was told that he would travel on a journey with companions from another world, and is sworn to help them collect feathers. He places two curses on him. The first will have Fay kill the first person he encounters with greater magical power than himself. The second he erased from his memory. It’s intent is that he would use his magic to suck up the world of Celes and trap everyone inside. He told him if he wished to bring his brother back to life he would need to preserve his body. He told him that he would find a feather, and this would preserve the body. Another feather would need to be found and saved, to bring on his journey and given to the princess.
He leaves him then, and as promised, not long after he is found by King Ashura who had come to Valeria from another world in order to retrieve Yui and take him to Celes. When he asked the child his name he said he was Fay, and Ashura transported the boy and his brother’s corpse to Celes.
Ashura showed him his first kindness, and tutored the boy in magic. He placed a seal on Fay’s back, keeping his magic from growing. He asked Fay to make a promise to him, to destroy anyone who threatened Celes, no matter who. As he put the seal on him he explained that it would keep his power level low enough that Ashura would be able to surpass him, and when he did Fay’s curse would be activated. He then told Fay to forget that part of the conversation, and only remember getting the seal.
The people of Celes were kind to him, and Fay kept them safe. They encouraged him to smile more. When Fay expressed dismay to Ashura at his inability to perform healing magic, Ashura told him his smile could heal a heart well enough. Fay carried this with him.
A beast began slaying the people of Celes, and Fay swore he would stop it. When he discovered it Ashura however he was not so eager to fulfill this promise. Ashura demanded he keep his word and stop him. His power grew as he killed people, and he’d always known he would snap one day, this was the reason he had bought Fay to Ceres. Fay refused, unable to hurt the first person to show him any kindness, placing a spell on him that put him to sleep. However spells do not last forever, and he knew when Ashura awoke he would come after him. He sealed him beneath the water, leaving his creation Chii (whom he’d made to resemble his mother out of a third feather) to watch over him and his brother’s corpse. He then transported himself to Yūko the Time Witch.
Once there he met Syaoran, Sakura, and Kurogane. All had come to the Witch for different reasons, but in the end their wish was the same. Kurogane wished to return to the world he had just left. Syaoran wished to restore Sakura’s memories, feathers which had been scattered through out the worlds, and Fay wished to travel to worlds that were not his own.
The three paid the price for the singular wish, each giving up what was most precious to them, with Fay having to give up the seal upon his back. They were then given the creature Mokona, who had the power to take them from world to world.
Fay swore off using his magic without his seal, but became fast friends with Mokona and Syaoran. Kurogane he delighted in teasing, making up all manner of nicknames for him. As they recovered Sakura’s memories he became very fond and protective of her as well. He approached all of their adventures with a smile and an aloof attitude, never seeming upset.
Kurogane sees through this, and confronts Fay, telling him he needs to concentrate on his present self, and can’t continue to live in the past. Fay attempts to laugh this away with a smile but Kurogane isn’t buying it any longer, and says Fay acts this way to keep from getting close to anyone. But he had failed. He cares very deeply for the young Syaoran and Sakura, and has let them in despite his attempts not to. He broke his vow not to use magic to protect them, even when he would not use it to save his own life. Fay is conflicted by this confrontation.
In the most recent world they had traveled to Sakura had not woken up after receiving her last memory, and Syaoran was not attacking like himself. Sakura was left to sleep with one of them watching over her at all times while the other two continued to search for more feathers. Syaoran went to claim one below the building in which they were staying, diving into the water reservoir while the others and Fay watched. It was then that the real Syaoran awoke, this Syaoran being a clone. The real Syaoran’s heart had been shared with the clone, given to him in the form of the orignal’s right eye. The eye had been sealed and now the seal was breaking, turning the clone into a puppet of Reed.
Fay, who had come to care deeply for the boy, dived in after him. He knew there was no chance of repairing the seal, but he was determined to try. His spell failed, and the clone began a puppet as intended, designed to collect the feathers at any cost and eliminate anyone in his way. He knew Fay’s magic could help him to gather the feathers, and that his magic was held in the blue colour of his eyes. He then plucked out his left eye and ate it, consuming half his magic, one of his eyes turning blue.
Kurogane came to aid, and the two fought over Fay, the clone wishing to eat his other eye as well, but Kurogane was able to get Fay away from him. Then the real Syaoran appeared and the two fought.
Later, there was little that could be done for Fay. He was going into shock and their were little medical supplies and none with the proper knowledge to fix him. Mokona called to the Time Witch, pleading for her help, but Fay insisted that he wanted to die. When he died the power the clone had consumed would die with him. Kurogane would not accept this, and it was arranged that Fay would be kept alive. One of the vampire twins mixed their blood with Kurogane’s and it was forced upon Fay, turning him into a vampire. The burden of keeping him alive was the passed to Kurogane. Only his blood would sustain him, and if Kurogane died so would Fay. The change healed him, though it can not heal injuries gained before being turned. It was enough to keep him alive.
His new powers link him with Kurogane, and he must drink from him to survive. Had he been a normal human his life span would have been extended, but as his life is all ready far beyond normal it has little effect. It does extend Kurogane’s however. They are told that if they can recover his stolen eye then he will no longer have to drink the blood.
His attitude towards Kurogane changed immediately upon awaking, calling him by his proper name for the first time. He confessed to the Time Witch that he had enjoyed calling Kurogane by his nicknames, had grown close to him without realizing, and that couldn’t be allowed. He would not forgive Kurogane for keeping him alive.
Sakura, having been awoken, and gone on a dangerous mission by herself, nearly dying, was reunited with Fay, both grateful to see the other alive, and Fay felt some guilt at his wish to die.
Personality: Fay appears to be a very frivolous and carefree person, always with a smile on his face. This is a defensive technique he uses to keep from getting close to people. It is most readily used with new people, and as he usually is off to the next world before he is able to make attachments it is a good system.
He is very private with his true emotions, and tends to live in the past within his own mind. His soul goal for so long has been to live so that he can restore his twin's life. He cares little for his own life, and it becomes a struggle for him, whether to fight for himself or not. He will more readily fight to protect the people he cares about.
When he slips up and lets others in they have an easier time of seen through his mask of smiles, and that his true personality is really very dark and sad. Since being turned into a vampire Fay has become a bit more reserved, and when angry his eye changes from blue to yellow.
Third-Person Sample:
Fay opened his eyes, lips curling into a smile as he took in this new world. Not the strangest one yet, no acid rain, that was a plus. But something of great importance was missing. His smile faded as he found he was alone. "...Mokona, where are we?" he asked, trying to bring that happy look back to his face, "Are you all hiding?"
Silence stretched around him.
His shoulders slummed, head drooping, and he rubbed at the bridge of his nose, careful not to disturb his eyepatch. Alone. When had he last been alone? He'd gotten so used to his traveling companions. He realized this was another sign that he'd grown close to them without meaning to, let them it, but he wasn't concerned with that right now.
His brows creased in anger, blue eye changing to yellow with a slitted pupil. "Witch, you are breaking your promise. I paid my price. Without Mokono I am stranded, you bring them back to me," he demanded.
Again he received no answer, and slowly his eye returned to its brilliant blue. His face was drawn into a frown, looking lost for a moment. They had to be here somewhere. He would find them.

Whoo. I made it work.
Kurogane? Syaoran-kun? Sakura-kun?...Mokona?
Where are you? This world is strange.
There's lots of power here, could be a feather.
I thought we were continuing together, where are you hiding?
Princess?
[He hesitates a moment, looking contemplative before baiting with-]

Mokona, no one will understand me here without you. Where did you go?
I'll go look for the feather. I'm sure that's where you are.
