New hotel for ycon

So I guess ycon finally sent in updates and they're actually moving over to the hyatt San francisco airport hotel.

Looked up and saw some pro's and con's:

• Con = higher room rates (about $190/day Inc. Tax for 4 ppl), fee per person
• Pro = free wifi for con rooms, $5/day in-out parking for hotel guests (no priveledge for non hotel)

$190/day???

Who do they have doing their convention negotiations; morons? That's not a "con rate", that's higher than the regular rate I pay at ANY hotel in the USA even when it's not a con. A "con rate" is supposed to be a discount group rate. I already consider $120-$130 to be quite high, and that's when I'm staying at nice hotels, not Motel 6.

Yeah...the base price is $109/night for 2pl to check in. If you select 4 pp/room, then they'll add in $30 per person/night. So technically you can just book for 2pp for double room, but you'll have to somehow dodge you way from the staff from knowing ^^;;

But yeah, that's still pretty pricey considering most con hotels I've booked at was always below at LEAST $140/night while checking in 4 ppl. I really like the San Mateo since they have the super sweet suite room for $130/night which you can totally have more people w/ enough space to freely move around!

I'd like to get a room to avoid the fiasco last year, but $190/day is sticker shock O.O How much do you plan on stuffing the room (if you plan on stuffing it)?

The Pro unfortunately doesn't outweigh the Con... ewwww... D: Might as well find a cheaper hotel and commute :/

I agree with Hiku. That's a ridiculous room rate. Especially when there are other hotels in that area.

Yeah...unless the room is made in gold and we get personal butlers to do our biddings D: I've looked around and seems the next closest place is a Holiday Inn Express where same room w/ 4P is $104/day and only 1/2 mile away from the Hyatt ^^ Supposedly they have free parking and wifi ^^

I think there is a relatively nearby small Courtyard by Marriott (or some other Marriott) that even had a special discount rate going on during the time of last years Y-con - they might do it again this year, it's usually a slow weekend.

(We get Marriott Special Rate notifications in e-mail from time to time.)
