I suggest looking on craigslist (www.raleigh.craigslist.org). That's where I found my roommates and they rock. I posted an ad saying I needed a place to live and a bit about myself and got tons of replies (from some cool people too). There's also a few houses in my neighborhood for rent, but they'd require roommates.

Just some thoughts.
