Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
…Hoo boy. Naoya remembers every single one of his lives from the very beginning, leading to him knowing a ton of stuff. He’s mostly a magic user, though, the strength of his current incarnation being rather, well, lacking. Having written the Demon Summoning Program, Naoya knows an extreme amount about the subject itself, and quite likely has both the will and knowledge of the ritual to summon and contract demons without it…but why would he bother, when using a COMP takes up much less energy and is highly efficient? He’s fast on his feet, but rather frail (about two or three good hits will take him out). Naoya doesn't need the COMP to cast spells, and he favors a combination of healing spells, shielding abilities, and massive blasts of holy/almighty-typed energy.
Naoya also has the ability to move way faster than any human should be able to in three-inch geta, including going up 56 flights of stairs in under half an hour. At this point, that is superhuman.
Weapons: The only weapon Naoya ever really uses in canon is the COMP, a small DS-like object that he's modified with the Demon Summoning program. The program does three things--it allows him to summon demons, up to two at once per COMP, and stores as many as he needs in a digital format for later summoning kind of like a weird pokeball. The COMP also has a Harmonizer function, that keeps him and anyone near him from just splattering like so much goo when hit by a demon by matching wavelengths. Thirdly, it allows for a much greater ease in casting spells and the like through it's skill system, although he can only have three active skills and three passive skills set to him at any one time.
Of course, failing that, a nice sharp knife works too. If he's given the COMP, I'm generally fine with his ability to summon being taken away, as a note. o/; Especially since Naoya is a cheating hooker and ignores demon level restrictions.

NOTE!: Devil Survivor has multiple ending routes. For the sake of this app, I have gone with Naoya as if the ending is the Amane/Law route.
Character History:
Where to begin? In canon, Naoya is the reincarnation of Cain-yes, that Cain. He was cursed, not just to wander the barren land east of Eden, but to be reincarnated, with his memories intact, never to escape the weight of his sin. Naturally, the man is quite a bit bitter and angry about things like religion and God. Mostly God. Believing his curse to be unjust, he has spent…a while plotting his revenge against the almighty. It is his current incarnation that has come up with a way that might work, both in killing God and lifting his curse.
Naoya was hired by a group of religious fanatics, the Shomonkai, to create a computer program that would allow for easy summoning of demons. Normally, summoning would take a ritual and a great amount of will, but this program would allow anyone to summon…and weaken the barrier between the demon world and the human one. The aim of this? To start the war of Bel, that a King of Bel, ruler of all demons, might arise and become the new almighty being. Naoya succeeded, creating the Demon Summoning Program…which began the chain of events leading to a lockdown of all Tokyo.
In this Lockdown, Naoya had arranged for his young cousin to be inside the Yamanote circle in Tokyo, and trapped, along with everyone else. This cousin-coincidentally, a reincarnation of Abel, although he knew it not-was the only human capable of becoming King of Bel. Naoya aimed to make the boy become king…and wage war on God.
With only a week in the Lockdown before all in it were killed, Naoya had to nudge his cousin into becoming very powerful…very quickly. On the fifth day, after the teenager had defeated a friend gone mad with a thirst for ‘justice’ (a laughable concept; God was not just, so humans were not capable of it), Naoya tested his cousin’s strength...and was satisfied. The next morning, he told his cousin of his plan to make him overlord and free humanity from God’s influence…and waited for his cousin’s decision. He planned for every choice his cousin could conceivably make--whether he ran, or found another way to deal without the demons, or actually sided with God. In most cases, it didn't matter that much if Abel chose something else--after all, Naoya would just be reborn and wait for his next chance--but there was one option he couldn't let happen. He couldn't let Abel go back to God. He wouldn't allow it.
Of course, that was what his cousin decided on, in the end, and Naoya went after him, chasing him up Roppongi Tower to try and stop him from summoning Babel and becoming the Messiah. Of course, in doing so, he revealed his own identity…and then had the remaining threads of his sanity shattered when Abel claimed not to hate him for murdering him. Naoya was dead set on killing Abel to keep him from going back to God's side He battled with his cousin…and lost. Nearly dead and faced with the prospect of losing completely, Naoya teleported to safety…
At which point he was caught by the Pull and arrived in Siren's Port, still bleeding heavily and pissed as hell. Oopsies.
Point in Canon: Day Seven, Directly after his Fight with the MC and Party. So around 1300 hours. :|a
Character Personality:
Naoya is, in a word, a dick. Consumed by his hatred for God and refusal to bow down and repent for slaying his younger brother, the man will stop at nothing to gain his revenge for a punishment he perceives as unjust. Manipulative to the very last, Naoya does not seem to connect with people. Perhaps he’s seen too much tragedy in all his numerous incarnations, or perhaps he’s just a complete social retard who hasn’t had healthy, normal connections with people in over a couple hundred years, you decide. Naoya is…generally fairly calm and collected, and excels in being cryptic and not really letting on the whole story to anything. He doesn’t particularly lie often-although when he does, he does well-but he’s not going to tell you anything more than what he needs to get what he wants. However…the man does have a temper, and bringing up God’s mercy, love, or justice is a surefire way to piss him off. Pointing out the holes in his own logic or his shortcomings also do pretty well. If you’re an angel, or are friends with one? Consider yourself permanently on his shitlist. And Naoya has no problem completely ruining the lives, if not outright murdering the people he hates. It's just that ruining their lives is more productive.
Running along with Naoya’s intense hatred for God is a subtle thread of self-loathing. He does believe that Abel, his darling brother…should hate him for what he’s done, if he knew about it. This may be the only sign of his remorse, although it’s fleeting, and Naoya would never acknowledge such, choosing to focus more on his anger over God’s blatant favoritism. He’s an extremely intelligent man, if completely insane, and he’ll stop at absolutely nothing to achieve his goal.
But this is not all there is to Naoya, no! His age has warped his interactions with people, and while it’s much easier to have people write you off as simply a bastard, simply selfish, anything simple, Naoya is a complex, twisted man. It isn’t that he isn’t capable of liking or respecting people, or even incapable of remorse--he is, but his pride is too strong for him to ever admit to that regret, or apologize for it--since of course, he’s never entirely the one at fault. Naoya’s odd brand of compassion is also of note--he knows he does terrible things, he doesn’t really care that they’re terrible, and it doesn’t really matter who he hurts--but if he’s wronged someone, he’s not above giving them the keys to closure, at least. He won’t directly help someone unless it helps him, but a nudge here and there...well, he can make most things work to his benefit, that’s all.
Character Plans: W-eelll…Given Naoya is who he is, he'll likely end up trying to get information and eventual access to the core itself, as well as trying to turn the political situation in Siren's Port to his own advantage. Like a creeper. I have no idea how well that's gonna go!

Writing Samples
First Person Sample
[The voice option comes on after a moment, and Naoya's voice--forever smooth--carries a distinct undertone of anger.]
This was not a good time, and I will not be answering to any half-witted summoner who conjures up a human. Whatever reason I've been called here for simply isn't good enough.
If you wanted, however, to make yourself useful, I'm sure an arrangement can be reached. Just keep in mind; I'm beholden to no one.
Third Person Sample
In all the lives and years he'd lived, the sharp yank of a summoning was an experience that was entirely new to Naoya. And one, he quickly decided, he didn't enjoy in the slightest.
Then again, there was a very short list of things he did still enjoy, anymore. He gritted his teeth, holding his hand to his ribs where his cousin--no, little brother--had broken them. He hadn't lost enough blood yet to be this dizzy, and the nausea couldn't have been from the fight…although maybe his adrenaline running out could cause it. Naoya shook his head, trying to clear it, and straightened, taking stock of his surroundings. This wasn't Tokyo, and unless he missed his guess it wasn't even Japan…Well, anything that would keep him safe from His hands long enough to make a new plan would do.
He spat, staring dispassionately at his blood in the grass. Plans wouldn't do him any good unless he could keep himself alive long enough to get back the energy to heal himself. Naoya needed food and a place to sleep…and whatever it would take to get them. He took a moment longer, swaying a little on his feet, and smiled grimly.
He wouldn't want it to be too easy.
