Question: Which is the best on the 'Doctor Who: The Complete Specials' DVD? The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars or The End of Time Parts 1& 2?

I think Waters of Mars is the strongest installment. The End of Time has gotten a lot of positive hype, but in my less-than-humble opinion it was just fan-service and creative self-indulgence in lieu of an actual story.

I'd say "Waters of Mars" is the best.

Waters of Mars, hands down. But Planet of the Dead has some delish old school moments--if you're into that sort of thing. And The Next Doctor has an interesting villain lifted from "Annie".

PS. Planet of the Dead followed by The Next Doctor are probably the most kid friendly, but they both have some bits I bet younger viewers would find really scary. There's a cringe worthy poo joke in Planet some parents might not be thrilled to hear repeated ad nauseum around the house from the mouths of of their babes, but it's pretty harmless and sure to appeal.

"Planet of the Dead" is quite possibly the most "accessible" Doctor Who episode I've ever seen - that is, something a non-Doctor Who fan could appreciate and enjoy. It's what I imagine a Doctor Who feature film would look like. Conversely, "The End of Time" probably doesn't make much sense if you're not familiar with the overall Doctor Who mythology, and especially with Russell T. Davies's part in it.

That said, I'd have to go with "The Next Doctor" as my recommendation, because it's fun and it does have some of the show's overall mythology without heaping on too much.
