I overestimated the amount of attention that is payed to the work before it is considered for the show. It is now obvious to me that more modest work, or work presented anywhere besides eye-level is bound to get considerably less signatures. That particular piece, being one of the two most modest I showed, got no signatures; though it has often been liked by people I pointed it out to.
There may have been one piece that a teacher signed for another. And there may have been another that a teacher signed twice. Neither did I ask to do this. The problem with the system they have now is that challenging work has very little chance of making it into the show and work that complies with common cultural aesthetics is guarantied. There's an element of art fair to it because of this that makes me very sour.
