Title: On Introduction
Rating: G
Pairing: Ricardo Kakà/Andriy Shevchenko
Kakà meets the elusive, enigmatic Andriy Shevchenko for the first time in an elevator and he is immediately (stupidly) spellbound (starstruck?)-he shouldn’t be, really, not when he, at twenty-one, has already played alongside the likes of O Fenômeno and R. Gaúcho-he has even met and conversed with Pelé (Pelé!) several times-but, with the tip of his slight finger still pressed against the southward arrow, Kakà only stares, flustered.
“Going down?” Andriy Shevchenko asks politely.
“-? Oh.” I, well, um, yes.
They are on the third floor when the fickle doors slide close and the elevator hum signaling their journey begins. The ride probably lasts for a little less than a minute, but when Kakà steps out again, he has learned that there is no elevator music because there was once a related incident, mostly not spoken of at either clubs of the San Siro, with a fist, an Interista, and Marco van Basten, and that Andriy Shevchenko actually prefers to be called Sheva by his teammates.
“Okay,” Kakà says. Then, hesitatingly, tardily, to Andriy Shevchenko’s back, “Ciao...Sheva.”
Ciao, Ricky.
