Maaaan - I'm blushing furiously. You are too funny!!! What did I tell you sweetie? Northern Star isn't the norm. Yes, there are lots of volunteers, but the production values are VERY tight. The four of us were Bob's first cast back in 1996 when we did Nunsense. It was Bob's vision to create a regional theater company that combined paid staff and volunteer talent. The result was explosive. Because casts were no longer at the mercy of the volunteer audition process and could be hand-picked, there was none of the usual Guffman-type BS and weird "cast my friends" politicking associated with community theater. Combine that policy with an incredible local talent pool, one tough audition for newbies, and an abhorence of all things cheesy, and well... you saw. Yeah - we all have day jobs - but we take our theater VERY seriously! No tolerance policy for slackers, divas and goof-offs. Rehearsal schedules are short and brutally intense.
