A) ACTION; OPEN @ 1648 ALRBRIGHT A.M.
[it was early in the A.M. that Abel sat at the front stoop with the box marked with his name on it in his hands. he'd stared at it for a long while, wary of its contents... he'd heard stories from others in this town, and while he knew it was likely to be something valuable from home... he wasn't so certain about everything he had a chance of receiving.

still, he had eventually come to the decision to put aside his reservations and see it through. he had no place denying potential assets... as much as the chance of it being-- that has his stomach in knots.

his wariness is ill-founded, however, when it turns out to be rather harmless... and then something immensely and sorely missed. the cassock, boots, the jacket -- they're all discarded in favor of clutching the precious rosary to his chest with fervor, the chain falling over his lap without care.

B) ACTION; OPEN - CHURCH, midday.
[now donned in priestly adornments again, Abel is headed to the one place it makes the most sense to go -- the church. he supposes it's about time he looked into a job, and if there's anything he could do there, well... maybe some familiarity around here would do him good!

he cracks the doors ajar, looking tentatively inside...]

U-um... hello? Pardon me for intruding, but... is anyone here?

[...]

I better not be talking to myself again. This place is going to be the death of me...

C) PHONE;
[filter to Diana;]
Miss Saintly Prin~cess, are you there~? I haven't forgotten that debt I owe you, so... I think I brainstormed a method of repayment! But knowing you, you'll find a way to foil my stroke of genius, so... I think we best talk this out before I jump to any conclusions, alright?

[filter to Edward Elric;]
Edward! I found something you have to try at the bakery in town, and... you were the first person I thought of when I saw it. It's nice to have someone with refined tastes around here, you know? I never got to gush like this with anyone before without being called a gluttonous sinner...

So! How about it? You, me... a few pastry boxes... maybe some tea? I'll be over in a few minutes, okay? Don't worry, I'll be polite as a peach when I get there!

[OPEN; EVERYONE]
Father Abel, here...! I know, I know. You've missed my voice, I'm absolutely certain. It's been, what... a week or two since the last time you heard from me? I hope no one thought I'd gone and died during all that Halloween nonsense! Rest assured, I'm just fine! Please, put your minds at ease...!

But [there's always a but,] I did have something on my mind.

I know there are some theories about our, ah. Mysterious benefactors here in Mayfield keeping us all such a quaint, tightly knit community. And, I know there are theories involving the strange occurrences here, the reasons we're pulled from different points in space and time... why some of us come and go and why some of us stick around, or leave never to be seen again, but...

There's one question I haven't heard being speculated much. It's a rather pressing concern, you see, so I don't much understand why it's so frequently looked over...

[there's a creak down the line as he shifts his hold on the phone, cupping the receiver and dropping his voice conspiratorially. SECRET SHIT, GUYS.]

Why... exactly...

[DRAMATIC PAUSE...]

...is there a distinct necessity...

[...]

FOR THE STATE OF THE DRONES?? Does NO one else suffer a severe and total paranoia after enduring day after day of those insufferably cheerful smiles?! Some from the faces of loved ones, no less! Droned, and walking about like their pretty little heads are full of hot air! I can't stand it!! I think I'm going to go bald from stress...

Someone has to get right on this problem immediately! Good Lord in Heaven, save my soul from this wretched fate... I'm going to die of ulcers before zombies or aliens pull my brain out from my ears and--

[DRAMATIC CHOKED NOISES. his priorities, ladies and gents.]
