As annoying as this was for you, I feel bad for that lady. She was obviously desperate and really flustered, and that's probably why she didn't have the extra energy to actually process what you were saying to her.

I felt bad for her too. My daughter is bi-polar schizophrenic and had similar behaviors to this lady. The emotional focus to the point of almost obsession and unable to see beyond what she feels she must have.
