Oh yeah, a quick glance and the service animals alone are a serious consideration to that program/law. Thanks for sharing that link.

Cats go into heat too often and too unpredictably, but that's sage advice if someone isn't going to neuter.

Yea, and even if you have an indoor cat, somehow the ferals WILL find out and you will have a ton of male ferals chilling outside your house and glaring at you every time you leave. At least, in my experiance.

That is both funny and alarming, wish there was a pic (and I did not even consider this possibility); she must've had some enticing odor ~

These days those boys would be volunteering for the TNR fairies! In fact, if done on purpose, that might make excellent "bait"

Yea, there were actually a few ladies in heat, because I used to help a woman who bred purebred Balinese cats by feeding them and caring for them when she was gone. Every day, twice a day it was a game called 'How do you outmaneuver ferals?' Thankfully, I tended to bring cat treats, so it was a matter of chucking them far enough to distract them while I got in the door.

I'll admit I don't understand how it's so difficult to keep a cat from slipping out. It's not that mine have never tried (though they generally don't any more - maybe due to age, maybe having accepted my overlord decision that they shall Not Frequent The Nice Smelly Place) but you just... idk, put your foot out? Be observant? The only times I've had any cat slip past me was when I wasn't paying enough attention or I gambled and lost "can I leave the screen door to close on itself instead of firmly making it shut".

I mean, if you have some sort of mobility or vision issues, sure. But, otherwise. Foot door, cat stay.

Cats in heat tend to be more determined than your regular every day pet cat. Also, non-altered animals in general tend to be more opinionated than altered ones. I work with horses some and geldings are easier than mares, mares not in season are easier than mares in season and either is supposed to be easier than stallions.

Currently, I've got three unspayed females and two full males in the shelter. Yeah...them buggers are QUICK. then again, I only have ONE out of the cage at a time...so I've not had any issues. Tell you one thing though...that tomcat stink can make you rethink any love of cats you might ever of had.
